The Hobbit, one of Tolkien's classic novels, is a suspenseful, fast-moving journey through the sometimes dark, sometimes charming, and always compelling world of Middle Earth. Bilbo Baggins is a comfortably well-off hobbit with a love for rousing adventure stories. Real adventures, however, are definitely not his cup of tea. So when Gandalf the wizard knocks at Bilbo's door, bringing with him Thorin Oakenshield, twelve ragged looking dwarves, and a contract for an adventure to recover the lost treasure of Lonely Mountain, Bilbo could not be less interested—at first. But Bilbo's love of a good story gets the better of him, and before he knows it, he is off on a perilous quest over mountain and under hill, through caves and forest, and slimy dark places where they face the greatest danger of all: the fearsome dragon Smaug. The estimated running time is 2 hours with one 15-minute intermission. This play is suitable for all ages. Donations will be accepted at the door to help defray the cost for the theater.
You are Invited to Our High School Open House! Are you looking for high school options for your student? Don't miss our final High School Open House for this academic year! Through our stimulating four-year learning experience, our high school students come to know themselves well and can define their own individualized path to adulthood. Our curriculum helps them to develop the human capacities, skills and knowledge to understand, navigate and change the world. We promote the growth of independent, creative thinkers who desire to expand their opportunities and define their life paths through thoughtful encounters with the world and with themselves. Our Open Houses offer students and parents an experience and participation in sample lessons from our faculty members. You will also have the opportunity to meet our faculty and students, view student work, tour our campus and participate in a question & answer session. Please plan to attend the entire program. High School Open Houses and Tours are for both parents and students. Both are appropriate for students 7th grade and older. Sign up now to reserve your spot!
The Spring Concert will feature all middle & high school performance ensembles, including: High School Orchestra, Chamber Chorus, Handbell Ensemble, Recorder Ensemble, and Guitar Ensemble; and Middle School Wind Ensemble, Recorder Ensemble, and Orchestra. Each ensemble will present a selection of works encompassing a wide range of styles, genres, and historical periods. The students have worked hard to prepare for this performance, and there will be something for everyone’s musical palate! Performing students should come dressed in assembly attire; performers and their families are asked to watch their email inboxes for more details from WSP and/or their director as the concert nears. We hope you will join us for this lovely evening of music provided by our students and the WSP Music Department.
