Tuition Adjustment Program

At WSP we value a diverse classroom community is essential for transformative student learning. Our Tuition Adjustment program puts that value into action.

Affordability Profiles

WSP families participating in the Tuition Adjustment program contribute a range of tuition based on need. The following family profiles represent the broad range of family household and financial circumstances and examples of corresponding adjusted tuition.

Tuition Adjustment Profiles and Scenarios

Applying for Tuition Adjustment

WSP partners with Clarity to streamline Tuition Adjustment applications for families and carefully assess each family’s financial situation. You will need to authorize Clarity to directly download and verify your tax returns from the IRS to complete this process. The application can take as little as 30 minutes to complete.

To begin, create an account on Clarity. There is a $60 application fee. Clarity automatically waives the fee for applicants meeting their income level guidelines. If you need assistance, please reach out to our Director of Finance and Operations.

If you need support during the process of completing your application, Clarity offers email and phone support, in both English and Spanish. Clarity also hosts several Application Info Webinars for families.

Tuition Adjustment FAQs

Tuition adjustment is granted based on need. To participate in the tuition adjustment program, a family must hold Waldorf education high on its financial priorities and pay to the maximum extent of its financial capability. Families applying for tuition adjustment are expected to assess their financial status and to turn to other sources including investments, major assets and savings, trust accounts, and contributions of non-custodial parents and other relatives (for example grandparents) before asking WSP for a tuition adjustment. WSP may be unable to stretch to the full amount of tuition adjustment a family requests.

Applying for Tuition Adjustment does not impact a student’s application or acceptance to the school.

TA Program FAQ

  • Which grade levels are eligible for the Tuition Adjustment Program?
An adjusted tuition is available to students in kindergarten – grade 12. Tuition Adjustment is not available for children attending Preschool. However the fact that a family is paying for 2 or more children to attend an independent school will be considered in Tuition Adjustment for siblings in higher grades.
  • Does applying for TA affect a student’s application for admission to WSP?
    No.
  • Will everyone who applies for TA receive an adjusted tuition amount?
No. Only families with demonstrated inability to pay full tuition may be considered.
  • Is TA automatically renewed every year?
No. Families must reapply every year.
  • What happens if a family’s situation changes during the year?
A conversation with a representative of the Tuition Adjustment Program should be held if there is a significant change (positive or negative) in the family’s living or financial situation.
  • My current year tax return won’t be complete this spring. What happens then?
Complete the online form with last year’s tax return for a preliminary conversation and TA decision. You will be required to submit the current year tax return as soon as it is available.
  • What is not covered by TA?
New families are required to pay the annual per-family tuition deposit. In addition to tuition, every family pays the annual tuition protection fee. In grades 3, 4 & 5, extracurricular strings instruction is also required. Middle school and high school families may be required to purchase books and other school supplies. TA does not cover any Extended Care costs.
  • How are TA applications handled in situations where parents are separated, divorced, remarried or cohabitants?
Both parents are required to complete the TA Application. It is expected that both parents and stepparents contribute to the fullest of their ability.
  • How is a TA application handled if one parent is not contributing to the family’s income? Both parents are expected to contribute to the family’s income. Income will be imputed to an unemployed or underemployed parent unless they are caring for infants or preschool aged children, homeschooling children at home, or caring for other family members.
  • Will my information be kept confidential?
Yes, the Business Office will be aware of your participation in the program and your information is kept confidential. We require that you keep confidential the terms of your TA Contract, including the amount of tuition agreed upon.
  • Whom can I speak to if I have further questions about the TA Program?
You can speak with the Director of Finance and Operations.

Payment Options

Following the non-refundable annual tuition deposit of $1,500 per family, the balance of tuition is to be paid in annual, semi-annual or monthly payments.
