Annual Holiday Faire
Update for 2020
Our Annual Holiday Faire is a fun family event that has been held since WSP opened in 1984. Most years we enjoyed the faire in sunshine, but also welcomed children of all ages, parents, alumni, and community members in inclement weather without any interruptions. Our first faire was held in a single classroom before it quickly expanded to take over the entire campus for a celebratory day of games, crafts, food, music, and fun. Always having been held on the first Saturday of December, rain or shine, it has been a place and time for alumni students and families to reconnect with their former teachers and friends. The year 2020 was to be our 37th Annual Holiday Faire.
This year, the pandemic creates many limitations on events we can hold, particularly the requirement for social distancing, the need to maintain children in cohorts, and the limitation of parents on campus. These restrictions will not allow us the have the meaningful Holiday Faire we have come to anticipate every year. Rather than bringing a diminished experience, we have decided to keep the memories intact in the minds of our children and the community, and not hold the faire this year. Its return at the end of the pandemic will be a sign of that passage.
Although we are sad not to host the Holiday Faire this year, we hold the image of what it will be when the pandemic has sufficiently subsided and we can again gather as a community. We are learning how important some things really are we always took for granted, and we hold our energy to bring back a full featured and meaningful Holiday Faire when we are liberated from the current necessary restrictions.
