Middle School

At Waldorf School of the Peninsula, the emerging adolescent enters a Middle School that is dedicated to providing an education that understands and embraces their stage of development. Caring adults and a nurturing environment meet their needs for both independence and a sense of belonging.

In the Middle School emerging critical thinking faculties are directed toward observing the natural world from a scientific standpoint. The critical value of artistic expression is experienced as a dynamic interplay of knowledge of self and the world. The school is dedicated to providing an education that acknowledges and encourages the development of the child as a whole human being with a spirit, soul, and body. Along with high academic standards and lifetime skills, Waldorf education addresses the growing inner life of the child. Our student goals reflect this unique perspective.

The goals for our students are:
  • Academic and critical thinking skills
  • Experiential knowledge
  • Balance of thinking, feeling and willing
  • Awakened inner life through creative processes
  • Sense of reverence, beauty and wonder
  • Appreciation of differences
  • Recognition of individuality, destiny, and task in life
  • Acknowledgment of the divine both outside and within
